Broomfield Symphony

Celebrating 34 years as the Orchestra within Broomfield, Colorado

The Broomfield Symphony is a friendly, lively and ambitious group of musicians that has been performing in Broomfield since 1982 and it continues to receive accolades. Our updated mission (April 4, 2016) is to provide ongoing opportunities for amateur musicians to hone their musical skills while bringing culturally relevant affordable musical experiences to the community through performances, education, collaboration and outreach.

Afternoon Matinee

Saturday, April 8, 2017, 3:00 pm

Broomfield Auditorium

We'll be performing music to the Buster Keaton classic silent movie The General. The opener will be "What's Up at the Symphony" (i.e. Bugs Bunny's Greatest Hits). Tickets will be available by early March. Seating is general admission.

The General is a silent movie released in 1926. It intially was not well-received and didn't do well at the box office, but now it is considered to be one of the greatest American films ever made. It was inspired by an event that occurred during the Civil War called the Great Locomotive Chase. This event was related in a memoir written by William Pittenger, and the movie was adapted from that story. Keaton performed many dangerous stunts for the movie and also co-directed it.

Peter and the Wolf - Sold Out Performance

On Feb. 18, we again featured the children's (and all ages) classic "Peter and the Wolf." Broomfield's own Paul Derda returned as narrator. We were joined by members of Dance Arts Studio for L'Arlésienne Suite No. 2 (Bizet). We also performed the March from "The Love for Three Oranges" (Prokofiev). Click HERE to see a few clips.
From Ruth M: "Excellent! Well Done! Enjoyed the dancers and other parts of program..." From Larry G.: "Mr. Paul Derda's narration and expressions were cool. I enjoyed watching Mr. Derda."
